It’s been an interesting 2 weeks, here in Napa, California. The weather continues to shift, as does the behavior of the large, bald ones. The distant sounds of music and voices are becoming less frequent and the large, bald cats seem to have collectively become indoor cats.

Lately, I’ve noticed that the air outside has taken on a new quality. The light is more diffused than I have ever seen it and there have been full days where I can barely even see my shadow. The large, bald one continues to open each window in the morning and then close them in the evening. Though she seems to know the entire exercise is increasingly performed in vain.
My bones are telling me that the darkness of winter is coming. I just pray that Michele does not bring us back to Minnesota this year.
